Praised by television audiences for her dynamic and affable on-air persona, celebrated news anchor Hoda Kotb was a triple threat - poised, self-assured and doggedly persistent in her daring investigative journalism skills. Best known as co-host of the fourth hour of "Today" (NBC, 2007- ) before being promoted to co-anchor, Kotb - along with wacky sidekick Kathie Lee Gifford - brought crackling wit and self-effacing humor to the daytime talk show, turning the later time slot into a boozy, mid-morning cocktail party where everyone from reality TV players to movie stars visited to chat and drink a few glasses of wine, all the while dishing about their latest endeavors. But it was Kotb's natural ability to lay bare her vulnerable side that struck a serious chord in her fans and proved she was a bastion of great strength, most notably when she allowed "Today" show cameras to chronicle her breast cancer ordeal in 2007. Kotb's spirited contributions to broadcast journalism on programs like "Dateline NBC" (1992- ) garnered a string of prestigious accolades throughout her career, including an Edward R. Murrow Award, a Peabody Award and several Emmys, proving the beloved broadcaster and TV host was as versatile as she was talented. In January 2018, her years of hard work and reporting integrity were rewarded when she was promoted to the role of co-host of "Today," taking over Matt Lauer's slot and sitting alongside Savannah Guthrie. This signaled the start of a new era for the long-running morning show, as well as making "Today" the only national morning news program to be hosted by an all-female team.
