Hoda Kotb Shares Sweet Photos of Lookalike Sister’s Birthday Celebration

Hoda Kotb and her kids were all smiles while celebrating a special family member’s birthday.

The former Today host is the middle child of three siblings, including her sister, Hala Kotb, and brother, Adel Kotb. In a Saturday, October 17, Instagram post, Hoda showed off how much she and her sister resemble each other while celebrating Hala’s birthday.

“Happy birthday to the best sis ever!!!” she captioned the upload. “Love you Hala!!”

The post’s first slide featured a sweet selfie Hoda snapped with Hala and her two daughters, Haley and Hope. The group appeared to celebrate Hala’s birthday on a family vacation, as the post’s second slide featured a video of Hoda and Hala waving to the camera while riding on a boat in the ocean.

Fans flooded the post’s comments with their own birthday wishes for Hala. “Happy Birthday to your beautiful sister! Sisters are the best, I have 3!!!!” one user wrote. Another added, “Hoda it’s my Birthday today too, tell sis Happy Birthday from a Big fan of Hoda’s.”

Someone else shared, “Happy birthday, Hala! Wishing you a wonderful day and a year full of laughter and good memories!” A different person posted, “Awww have the happiest Birthday ever, sis!” A separate commenter stated, “You almost look like twins!”

Hoda often shares glimpses into her family life with fans on social media. In July, she shared a montage of photos from her birthday trip to the Bahamas with her family. Along with her siblings and other family members, Hoda was joined on vacation by her ex-fiancé, Joel Schiffman, with whom she shares her two kids.

“Nothing like being in the same place at the same time #Family,” she wrote alongside the vacation pics on July 31.

Kotb returned to Today‘s Studio 1A on the August 21 episode of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle, during which she shared a sweet moment from the family trip. “OK, so my whole family went to the Bahamas, and my mom [Sameha Kotb], who’s 90, has not gotten on a plane in many, many years, and got on one,” she explained. “We all went to the Bahamas, and there’s a pool there that she wanted to get into, but said she couldn’t because she didn’t feel stable. So, we said, ‘C’mon, Mom! You can do it! You can do it! You can do it!’”

Hoda noted that she and a friend helped her mom get into the pool. “Haley was off to the side, whispering to a family member, ‘You got this, Tata! You got this!’ My mom stood in the water, in the pool,” she shared, adding, “Joel came, too. Joel was crying.”

Hoda and Schiffman quietly dated for two years before making their romance public in 2015. They adopted Haley and Hope in 2017 and 2019, respectively, and got engaged in 2019.

Hoda revealed that the pair had split during a January 2022 episode of Today. “They say sometimes relationships are meant to be there for a reason, for a season, or for a lifetime, and I feel like ours was meant to be there for a season,” she told viewers at the time.
