Romany Malco Headshot

Actor

Birth Date: November 18, 1968

Age: 55 years old

Birth Place: Brooklyn, New York City, New York

Rapper-turned-actor Romany Malco began his career in a string of hip-hop star vehicles before making a name for himself with scene-stealing turns in the hit comedies "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" (2005), "Blades Of Glory" (2007) and "Think Like A Man" (2012). Born in Brooklyn in 1968, Malco spent his childhood growing up between New York, Texas and his parents' native Trinidad and achieved his first taste of stardom as one fourth of hip-hop outfit College Boyz, who scored a US Hot 100 hit with "Victim Of The Ghetto" and released two albums, Radio Fusion Radio (1992) and Nuttin' Less, Nuttin' Mo' (1994) before disbanding in 1994. While serving as music producer on "The Pest" (1997), he was encouraged by the film's star John Leguizamo to pursue an acting career and a year later made his on-screen debut on the family drama "Touched By An Angel" (CBS 1994-2003). Malco then appeared opposite Snoop Dogg in "Urban Menace" (1999), Ice-T in "Corrupt" (2000) and then both in "The Wrecking Crew" (2000) before landing roles as surveillance specialist Jerry Hooten in secret agent drama "Level 9" (UPN 2000-01) and Paul Rudd's adopted brother Allen in low-budget comedy "The Château" (2001). Following a minor part in the Jackie Chan comedy "The Tuxedo," Malco played Steve Carell's womanizing co-worker Jay in "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" (2005) before being cast as Nancy's pot-dealing love interest Conrad Shepard in the Emmy-winning "Weeds" (Showtime 2005-2012), a role he played for three seasons while he continued to provide laughs on the big screen as flamboyant choreographer Jesse in "Blades Of Glory" (2007) and advice-dishing doorman Oscar in "Baby Mama" (2008). Malco then appeared as the Toronto Maple Leafs' stressed-out star player Darren Roanoke in Mike Myers' critically-mauled comedy "The Love Guru" (2008) before landing the recurring role of George St. Cloud in critically acclaimed but low-rated sci-fi comedy drama "No Ordinary Family" (ABC 2010-11). Continuing to jump between TV and film, Malco turned in one of his most memorable performances as consummate player Zeke in big-screen ensemble comedy "Think Like A Man" (2012) and voiced overweight teenager Darius in the animated series "Unsupervised" (FX, 2012) and appeared several times on Kevin Hart's improvised comedy "Real Husbands Of Hollywood" (BET 2013-) Malco appeared alongside several Hollywood greats when he was cast as hotel liaison Lonnie in old-timers comedy "Last Vegas" (2013).
