Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Questions
Spoiler Alert

[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Season 5, Part 1 of Lucifer.]

The first half of Lucifer Season 5 has dropped, with an ending as shocking to the characters as the audience: God (Dennis Haysbert) has arrived!

Through the eight episodes, the devil (Tom Ellis) had to contend with his twin, the archangel Michael, trying to ruin his life (including briefly trying to pretend to be him) and getting into Detective Chloe Decker’s (Lauren German) head about the fact that Lucifer hadn’t said “I love you” after they finally got together.

Elsewhere, the demon Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) dealt with losing her mother, Lilith, and learning Lucifer shared a past with her he hadn’t disclosed by teaming up with Michael (who promised her the soul she wanted that Lucifer swore wasn’t possible). The archangel also (briefly) had Detective Dan Espinoza (Kevin Alejandro) on his side after he revealed the devil’s true face (and identity) to Chloe’s ex-husband. Plus, forensics specialist Ella Lopez (Aimee Garcia) thought she’d met a nice guy until reporter Pete (Alex Koch) turned out to be a serial killer.

Scroll down for the burning questions we need answered in the second half of Season 5.

God Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
Netflix

How will God's introduction shake up everything?

We could probably come up with an entire list of questions just about what to expect from Lucifer‘s version of God. What will we see from God and Lucifer, Michael, angel Amenadiel (DB Woodside), and Chloe (especially given her struggle with learning she was a “gift” from God for Lucifer)? How will Lucifer cope with seeing his father again?

Deckerstar I Love You Chloe Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
Netflix

Will Lucifer tell Chloe those three words?

Everyone knows that Lucifer loves Chloe. He’s told her he does, without actually saying “I love you.” (“My first love was never Eve. It was you, Chloe,” he said before returning to reign over hell at the end of Season 4.) But the two were in the middle of a very important conversation about just that—after Michael preyed on Chloe’s fears—when Amenadiel froze time over his concerns about his son’s mortality and then Michael and ultimately God showed up at the end of Season 5 Episode 8.

Michael Plans Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
Netflix

What are Michael's next steps?

We know Michael wants to ruin Lucifer’s life—after revealing the hand he played in manipulating his twin pretty much since the dawn of time in Episode 3—and has successfully turned Maze against the devil. How will having God around now affect his plan? (Or might he have planned for that, just like he’d expected Maze to eventually return to his side?)

Will Maze and Lucifer reconcile?

Neither held back in their fight in the midseason finale and she did choose to side with his brother, even after Michael kidnapped Chloe, but is all hope lost for the old friends?

DB Woodside as Amenadiel in Lucifer Season 5

How will Amenadiel deal with Charlie being mortal?

During the first half of Season 5, Amenadiel noted at one point that when his original plans (with Dan) fell through, he couldn’t think of anything else to do but return home and put together toys for baby Charlie. He was very much focused on being a father, which included having to accept that one day, his son wouldn’t need him as much. And then came the revelation that Charlie’s mortal, meaning he’ll die one day. That terrified Amenadiel so much that he didn’t just slow down time (as he hadn’t been able to do) but completely stopped it. The fight with Michael, then God’s arrival, interrupted his conversation with Lucifer about it. What’s next?

Lesley Ann Brandt Maze Soul Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
John P. Fleenor/Netflix

Will Maze get a soul?

As was stated multiple times in the first half of the season, it was unheard of that a demon would gain a soul. (Then again, the same was true for vampires on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and by the end of that series, there were two: David Boreanaz’s Angel and James Marsters’ Spike.) Michael promised Maze a soul if she helped him. Could he know something the others don’t? (After all, the series has already seen an angel and a human have a child together and the devil fall in love.) Or is that a complete lie? And how might having God around affect her storyline?

Or could Maze find that something else makes her “feel whole,” to borrow Amenadiel’s words from Episode 7?

Dan Truth Devil Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
Netflix

How will Dan continue to cope with the truth about Lucifer?

Dan’s initial reaction to the confirmation that Lucifer hadn’t been lying all this time and is actually the devil was to shoot him. But he admitted he could see Lucifer loves Chloe when they rescued her from Michael’s cell. How much will he be kept in the loop going forward?

Linda Daughter Adoption Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
Netflix

Will Linda ever officially meet her daughter?

In Season 5 Part 1, Dr. Linda Martin (Rachel Harris) revealed to Maze that she had a daughter she gave up for adoption—and then the demon/bounty hunter found that child, now a real estate agent. When Linda came face-to-face with Adriana (above left), however, she couldn’t bring herself to share who she is to her. She did fill out a form that would release her information to her daughter, should she want it. Will we see the two talk as mother and daughter in the second half of the season?

Ella Pete Serial Killer Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
Netflix

How will Ella deal with the truth about Pete?

As the season began, Ella seemed resigned to only being attracted to bad guys. In fact, she completely wrote off Pete because he seemed too nice. However, she then discovered that he was actually the serial killer they were hunting. Will she revert back to the Ella she was at the beginning of the season? Will she take a step back from relationships—even casual ones—completely?

Ella Darkness Lucifer Season 5 Part 2 Question
Netflix

Is there darkness in Ella?

After Pete was arrested, he told his ex-girlfriend, “there is darkness in you, Ella, I recognized it the very first moment we met.” Is that something we’ll see explored in Season 5B, or was it just Pete spouting nonsense? He was, after all, a serial killer, so we probably should take what he says with a grain of salt.
