‘Nashville’ Renewed for Season 6 at CMT; Season 5 Midseason Premiere Date Announced

Nashville will live on.

CMT has picked up the drama for a 16-episode sixth season to premiere early next year, the network announced. Additionally, the second half of the fifth season (which includes the show’s milestone 100th hour) will bow Thursday, June 1, at 9/8c. And joining the show is Big Little LiesJeff Nordling, who will recur as Brad Maitland, an “extremely successful, charming, egotistical, narcissistic owner of the most successful record label in Nashville.”

The series made big changes in the first half of the fifth season, as the characters grappled with the death of Rayna Jaymes. (The move was made to accommodate then-series star Connie Britton’s request to exit)
