Better Call Saul Season 1 Episode 2

Better Call Saul, “Mijo” (Monday, Feb. 9, 10/9c, AMC)

Last night’s premiere of the Breaking Bad-prequel Better Call Saul welcomed viewers back into the morally ambiguous Albuquerque so brilliantly crafted by executive producers Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould. Now that the mandatory character introductions are out of the way, the storytelling begins to unfold as the writers crank the intensity up to 11. After Jimmy McGill (Bob Odenkirk) comes face-to-face with drug dealer and Walter White’s former nemesis Tuco (Raymond Cruz), Saul channels vintage Breaking Bad with a harrowing high-stakes field trip into the vast New Mexico desert. Saul’s negotiation skills are quickly tested with a new band of scofflaws. As Jimmy’s path to Saul Goodman becomes clearer, audiences are treated to one heck of a thrill ride.
