With HGTV‘s Good Bones recently wrapping up its final season, stars Mina Starsiak Hawk and MJ Coyle have been reflecting on the series and some of the behind-the-scenes drama.

Hawk and Coyle often butted heads during the filming of the show, especially under the stressful environment of renovating houses, and one of their biggest arguments actually happened during Coyle’s first week on the job.

“Probably one of our biggest fights ever was literally my first week of employment,” Coyle said on Hawk’s Mina AF podcast (per CloserWeekly). “We both put our feet down and weren’t moving at all, which is typically what happens with you and I.”

The fight happened while the pair were fixing up a house on Indiana’s Sanders Street. “I really, really wanted to save the fireplace in Sanders, and you were like, ‘Absolutely not, we’re getting rid of it,'” Coyle recalled.

“Oh, I remember,” Hawk said. “I had just had a baby, and I’m there with tiny baby Jack, and everyone was angry.”

“In that moment, I think what you and I learned the most about each other is that we’re both super stubborn and we’re both right at all times,” Coyle continued. “Production [and] other people will definitely always be in our ears, either getting us to fight each other or getting us to come to an agreement that they secretly want.”

“Yep, they’re over there like pulling the strings in their ivory tower,” Hawk added.

Despite their clashes on the show, Hawk and Coyle have always managed to patch things up and keep their relationship intact outside of the show. The same can’t be said for other cast members; Hawk herself has spoken recently about the friction within her family, including with her mother and co-star Karen E. Laine.

Coyle, too, admitted to having grown apart from some of his former co-stars.

“I haven’t talked to Cory [Miller] in a long time,” he revealed. “I haven’t talked to Tad [Starsiak]. I’ve talked to your mom just like briefly when everything kind of ended, but no, I think everyone just kind of needs space and a little bit of time and healing.”

Good Bones aired its series finale on October 17, which saw Hawk and her mom fixing up a dream home for Hawk’s brother Tad and his girlfriend, Anna Spiars, who he proposed to at the end of the episode.

Hawk is now focused on her upcoming HGTV spinoff series, which she said she’d like Coyle to be a part of.

“I am filming the lake house, and MJ is in there here and there; he comes and helps us demo, and I’m always throwing stuff against the wall to see what will stick,” Hawk shared. “If any new show ever did stick, MJ would definitely be one of the people that I’d be like, ‘Hey, do you want to do this?’”
