Mark Pellegrino

Mark Pellegrino became a cult TV favorite starring in a succession of sci-fi, horror and fantasy shows. However he also spent many years playing bit parts in various movies, often playing street thugs and tough guys. For example he was cast as a 'punk' twice in 1987 (in "LA Law" (NBC 1986-1994), his screen acting debut, and "Death Wish 4: The Crack Down" (1987), his first feature), then again in 1990 in HBO's horror anthology "Tales From the Crypt" (1989-1996). Pellegrino mixed TV work with some big Hollywood projects including "Lethal Weapon 3" (1992), "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (1997) and a small but memorable role as one of the heavies who assaults Jeff Bridges' iconic character Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski in the Coen brothers' "The Big Lebowski" (1998). He later picked up a regular role in the short-lived ABC show "The Beast" (2001), which was cancelled after just six episodes.

Pellegrino had an impressive career that kept him in regular work on high profile programs such as "Without a Trace" (CBS 2002-09), "Burn Notice" (USA Network, 2007-2013) and "Grey's Anatomy" (ABC, 2005-). However it was his recurring role as Paul Bennett in serial killer drama "Dexter" (Showtime, 2006-2013) where most viewers really started to notice his acting skills. He continued to work consistently with parts in "Numb3rs" (CBS, 2005-2010), "Prison Break" (Fox, 2005-09), "The Ghost Whisperer" (CBS, 2005-2010) and "CSI" (CBS, 2000-) but it was playing the enigmatic Jacob in "Lost" (ABC, 2004-2010) that threw Pellegrino into the spotlight. "Lost" had such a committed following that viewers examined every detail and character in infinite detail; Jacob was eventually revealed to be one of the keys to the final mystery of the entire show. After "Lost" went off the air, Pellegrino continued to be a regular presence across various networks, including a six-episode stint on "The Closer" (TNT 2005-2013). But it was his work on various science fiction and fantasy shows during this era that helped seal his cult credentials. These included his role as Lucifer on "Supernatural" (The WB/The CW 2005-), vampire Bishop on "Being Human" (Syfy 2011- ) then two sci-fi jobs in quick succession, on the apocalyptic "Revolution" (NBC 2012-) and the young-skewing "The Tomorrow People" (The CW 2013-).
