8 Characters We Want to See Return in ‘A Million Little Things Season 3

A Million Little Things Season 3 Characters Who Should Return
ABC; ABC/Jack Rowand; ABC/David Bukach

Over two seasons, we’ve grown to love — but been very, very frustrated by — the characters of A Million Little Things and their friends and family members.

While the focus is on Eddie (David Giuntoli), Katherine (Grace Park), Rome (Romany Malco), Regina (Christina Moses), Delilah (Stephanie Szostak), Gary (James Roday), and Maggie (Allison Miller), sometimes these friends need other people in their lives outside the group. Fortunately, there are quite a few of those.

Scroll down for the characters with unfinished storylines and those who the main characters could use in their lives again that should return in Season 3.

A Million Little Things, Season 3, TBA, ABC

A Million Little Things - Melora Hardin as Patricia
ABC/David Bukach

Patricia (Melora Hardin)

Now, we don’t need the drama that resulted the last time Maggie’s mother was in town; it helps that we don’t see AMLT introducing another new character who claims to have one of Chad’s organs. But the very complicated relationship between mother and daughter makes for some compelling scenes for Hardin and Miller to play with. Plus, we’re expecting Maggie’s time at Oxford to change her and Maggie’s going to be dealing with the aftermath of Gary choosing Darcy, so having Patricia around could be interesting.

Sprague Grayden as Lindsay in A Million Little Things - Season 3
ABC/David Bukach

Lindsay (Sprague Grayden)

Considering her brother was just hit by a car at the end of Season 2, it would make sense for Lindsay to return — whether it’s to be there for him as he recovers, to attend his funeral, or to help out his family in the aftermath, whatever it may be.

Chandler Riggs as PJ in A Million Little Things - Season 3
ABC/David Bukach

PJ (Chandler Riggs)

The last we saw PJ, he was dealing with the truth about his father’s identity and Rome had talked him off the ledge of the roof. We can assume he’s doing better, but it would be great to check in with him onscreen — and perhaps for Rome to see how much he helped someone else, especially as he and Regina deal with their plans to adopt falling through.

Ron Livingston as Jon in A Million Little Things - Season 3
ABC/Jack Rowand

Jon (Ron Livingston)

While there’s no need to have Jon be a constant presence on the show as more time passes since his death and we don’t need to see him visiting the others in strange dreams, why not have a few flashbacks sprinkled throughout the season to highlight some of the relationships? It could be particularly interesting to see him and Katherine together, perhaps over some Scotch, as she deals with the aftermath of Eddie getting hit by the car.

A Million Little Things, Season 3 - David Giuntoli as Eddie Saville, Tristan Byon as Theo Saville, and Grace Park as Katherine Saville
ABC/Robert Trachtenberg

Joo Hee Kim (June Kyoko Lu)

Considering Season 2 ended with Eddie getting hit by a car and Katherine may very well lose her husband — or have him facing a long road to recovery — when better to bring back her mother for a little support? Yes, we saw her finally be part of the friend group again, but everyone has their own things to deal with as well.

A Million Little Things Season 3 Characters Who Should Return Carter
ABC

Carter (Sam Pancake)

Katherine quit her job after finding out that she and her assistant were pulled from a case because the client was homophobic, and with her planning to open her own firm (which hopefully happens, no matter the outcome of the cliffhanger involving Eddie), hopefully we see Carter be part of that.

A Million Little Things - Jason Ritter as Eric
ABC

Eric (Jason Ritter)

While we don’t exactly see a need to revisit Eric and the storyline of him lying about having Maggie’s brother’s heart, it didn’t exactly feel like we got any closure in his last appearance. Maybe he could show up for one more episode, one in which we see him and Patricia talking about his lie and its effect on her family?

Marcia Gay Harden in A Million Little Things
ABC/Jack Rowand

Alice (Marcia Gay Harden)

Gary finally came face-to-face with his estranged mother in Season 2, but she put her career first and it honestly didn’t feel like they’d ever get that dinner. But we’d love to see them revisit that relationship in Season 3, if only to have Harden return.
