There's blood! Fiery declarations of a witch war! Horribly disfiguring diseases! Fields of skeletongs! Things are about to get terrifyingly unreal in Salem, at least according to the new extended trailer for Season 2 released today:

We got a first taste of the forthcoming season not long ago, but this new preview new glimpses at what's ahead when Salem kicks off its sophomore year Sunday, April 5 (10/9c, WGN America). The show returns just after the Grand Rite performed by Mary Sibley (Janet Montgomery) has set loose a monstrous plague. But there's more than spreading sickness to worry about as her left-for-dead lover John Alden (Shane West) returns, Mercy (Elise Eberle) seeks vengeance, and newcomers Countess Marburg (Lucy Lawless) and Dr. Samuel Wainwright (Stuart Townsend) arrive to add new troubles. "Only a war from hell could destroy Salem .." the trailer begins--and from the looks of things, that seems to be just where things are headed.
