Up until now, the promotions for Netflix’s House of Cards Season 5 haven’t given us much of a look at Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey). That all changed on Monday with the release of the official trailer for the new season, which heavily features Frank in all his glory, ominously intoning in a voiceover about how he apparently views “Underwood 2016” as just the beginning.

“The American people don’t know what’s best for them. I do,” Frank cooly tells Claire (Robin Wright) in the trailer. He also derisively, with a hint of disgust in his voice, describes his citizens as “like little children. We have to hold their sticky fingers and we have to wipe their filthy mouths. Tell them what to think and how to feel and what to want.”

“One nation, Underwood,” Frank coldly concludes as he puts himself in place of God in that traditional phrase, after envisioning his rule extending well past when the Constitution would require him to step down.

Along with making clear Frank’s desire to cling to power as long as he can, the trailer also gives us tension-filled clips of the new season—including a glimpse of a “Never Underwood” protest—during which Frank and Claire’s previously strong partnership begins to show cracks.
