Fox Renews ‘Star’ for Second Season
All hail Queen Latifah. The rapper-turned-actress’ musical drama Star has been renewed for a second season by Fox. And even Cotton can’t have tea to spill about that news!
“Lee Daniels is a true visionary and he and Tom Donaghy have delivered a series with a unique and meaningful point of view,” says Fox’s Entertainment President David Madden in a just-released statement—his second of the day following Lethal Weapon‘s pickup. “Our incredible cast, led by Queen Latifah and Benjamin Bratt, instantly infused their characters with tremendous depth and passion, and the show has proved to be both powerful and really entertaining. We are thrilled that this Star will continue to shine for a second season.”
The gritty hip-hop drama about a girl group trying to make it in Atlanta also stars Jude Demorest, Ryan Destiny, Brittany O’Grady, Amiyah Scott and Chad James Buchanan. In its first season, the show has been averaging 7.5 million viewers across all platforms and will welcome guests Paris Jackson, Missy Elliott and returning scene-stealer Naomi Campbell over the next four weeks leading up to what is being described as “a jaw-dropping” season finale on March 15.
How much you want to bet that at least one body will drop along with the mic that night?
