Since hitting her 60s, Marie Osmond has focused on doing fun, exciting things that make her happy, such as skydiving, mountain climbing, and now, starring in a long-running television soap opera.

The Donny & Marie star will make her debut on The Bold and Beautiful on Friday, October 27, for a brief stint. She is set to play Countess Von Frankfurt, a long-time client of fashion house Forrester Creations who arrives in Los Angeles to view the new collections from Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) and his father, Eric Forrester (John McCook). And she says fans will see a different side to her in the role.

Speaking to ETOnline about her upcoming TV role, Osmond described it as a dream come true. She said it came about after releasing her album Unexpected in 2021, which landed at No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Crossover Albums Chart and No. 6 on Billboard’s Classical Albums Chart.

“It, like, debuted at number one, and I said, ‘Oh my gosh, I need to start doing, like, fun, crazy things. So I started this bucket list,'” she said.

That bucket list included things like visiting Iceland, ziplining, and climbing Mount Sinai in Egypt, which she did with her son Matthew back in June. But one thing she’d always wanted to do was act in a soap opera.

“Years ago, I talked to [TV producer] Brad Bell and he said, ‘You know, we should do a soap with you or something like that,'” Osmond told ET, but the timing was never quite right.

The singer told People she was originally set to appear on CBS drama series back in 2011, but her residency in Las Vegas with her brother Donny Osmond made the scheduling too tricky. But after the residency ended in 2019, she was ready to chase all her life-long dreams, including making her soap debut.

“Brad called, and I said, ‘Are you kidding? Yes,'” she told ET about her casting on The Bold and the Beautiful.

Speaking about her time on set, Osmond praised the cast and crew for the tremendous effort put into the show. “I watched them and their work ethic is insane,” she stated. “It kind of reminds me, like, back in the day with variety. Because you only had, like, one shot … to keep the time. You know, you can’t get behind.”

She continued, “The way they get their scripts and the speeches, they have to know them within a day. It’s just really impressive. They worked really hard.”

As for her own character, Osmond told People that she enjoyed getting to play a different archetype. “She’s got a little ‘tude going,” she shared. “Let’s just say she’s unique. It’s not one [character] that I’ve played before, and I enjoyed that. I love it. You can just channel a few people here and there, and she was fun.”

Osmond shows no signs of slowing down after her stint on The Bold and the Beautiful, as she’s also preparing for a nine-date orchestral Christmas tour with her nephew David Osmond. But after that, she will have a moment to relax over the holidays with her family, which includes eight children and nine grandchildren.

“I’m going to work up until Christmas, and then that’s when all of my kids and I get together,” she said. “A couple of them won’t be able to be there just because of work and location, but once Christmas is done, my husband and I will go and see all of those kids too. It’s just so fun, I can’t tell you.”
