‘Murderville’: How Much Do the Celebrity Partners Really Know Ahead of Time?

Call it Whose Crime Is It Anyway?! Will Arnett leads Murderville, a partially improvised comedy as Terry Seattle, a ridiculously serious homicide detective who gets a new partner in each of the six episodes.

Only it’s the celebrity guest stars — which include Conan O’Brien and Sharon Stone (above, with Arnett) — who don’t have a clue…or a script. “The only thing [they] know going in is that they’re playing a homicide trainee,” explains showrunner Krister Johnson.

“They know nothing about any of the other characters. They don’t even glimpse the set until they walk into their first scene.” By the end of the half hour, each celeb must guess whodunit based on the scripted action that has unfolded around them.

“Honorable mention goes to Sharon Stone, who ends up drenched in fake blood and never wavers,” raves Johnson. “There’s a reason she’s a Hollywood icon.”
