Best Lines of the Week (April 16-22): ‘We Are No Better Than You’
This week, TV viewers were introduced to the eerie mysteries of Freeform’s new teen-driven series Cruel Summer and HBO’s new crime drama Mare of Easttown, led by Kate Winslet.
Once again, the Good Girls crew got up to some hilarious but tense criminal hijinks, The Falcon and the Winter Solider brought us further into Bucky (Sebastian Stan) and Sam’s (Anthony Mackie) fight against John Walker (Wyatt Russell), and black-ish gave us a humorous look at empty-nest syndrome.

—Marvyn (John Stamos) gives his team not only a much needed pep-talk but also a peek inside of his harsh exterior.
Mare of Easttown (HBO Max)
Mare: “Did you get down on one knee? ‘Cause you skipped that part when we got engaged.”
Frank: “Uh, yeah, well, I was 20, Mare. I didn’t do a lot of things right.”
—After learning of her ex-husband Frank’s (David Denman) recent engagement, Mare (Kate Winslet) doesn’t miss the opportunity to shoot a quick jab at their past history.
Good Girls (NBC)
“Do you really want to be with me, or do you just not want to be with her?”
—Annie (Mae Whitman) asks Josh (Rob Heaps) this hard-hitting question after he expresses doubts about his wedding… which just so happens to be the next day.
The Great North (Fox)
“I noticed him because he ordered a ‘soup cup of ranch,’ and I thought to myself, ‘Uh huh, game recognize game.’”
—When Beef (Nick Offerman) and Wolf’s (Will Forte) hero Tusk Johnson shows up in town, Honeybee (Dulcé Sloan) explains her ranch dressing-fueled encounter with him at the Russian restaurant.
Fear the Walking Dead (AMC)
“The future I’m trying to build, if we start like this, we are no better than you.”
—Morgan Jones (Lennie James) declares a brighter outlook for his new community when he refuses to behead baddie Virginia (Colby Minifie).
The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Disney+)
“Well, I don’t always think of it. I’m right-handed.”
—Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), explains to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) why he used his right hand to turn a wrench on Sam’s boat, instead of his super strong metal one, in a hilariously sweet moment.
Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist (NBC)
“Honey, your cuticles are screaming at me, telling me a whole nother story. Fix that.”
—Mo (Alex Newell) tells Zoey (Jane Levy) that her internal stress is becoming very much external, despite her denials.
Cruel Summer (Freeform)
Jeanette: “It’s never going to be normal again, is it?”
Vincent: “You know, I can’t even remember when it ever was.”
—As the show’s complex and eerie mysteries unfold, Jeanette (Chiara Aurelia) asks Vincent (Allius Barnes) if their teenage lives will ever return to the carefree state they once were.
