‘Once Upon a Time’ Will End With Season 7
Once Upon a Time is out of time at ABC, as the network has announced that the show will not return for Season 8.
It is the end of an era, though the sad news comes as no surprise to fans of the Storybrooke-set fairy tale drama. The show’s ratings are at an all-time low for the series’ Friday time slot. Few details have been released about the cancellation, but ABC Entertainment President Channing Dungey did release a statement.
“When we first heard Adam [Horowitz] and Eddy [Kitsis]’s pitch for Once Upon a Time, we knew it was something incredibly special. For seven years, they have captivated us with their creativity and passion while reimagining some of our most beloved Disney fairytales, creating an undeniable global hit. Saying goodbye will be bittersweet, but Once Upon a Time will forever be part of the ABC legacy and we can’t wait for fans to join us in this epic final chapter.”
The show is currently in the middle of Season 7, following the December-airing midseason finale. More details should be available in the coming weeks ahead of the show’s return for its final episodes beginning March 2.
Once Upon a Time has captivated audiences since 2011, but if the season order remains, fans have at least 12 more episodes to look forward to.
