What To Know

  • Rachael Ray’s latest social media video sparked concern among fans, with many commenting that she looked “unrecognizable.”
  • Ray has faced a difficult year, including the loss of her mother and previous health issues.
  • Some fans defended Ray, reminding others that aging and health changes are natural parts of life.

Some Rachael Ray fans say the celebrity cook looks “unrecognizable” in a new video shared across her social media pages.

“Your hand is the original measuring spoon. When you’re seasoning as you go, don’t overthink it. A little pinch, a little palmful, a little confidence is all you need to cook by feel. Your food will thank you,” Ray wrote in the caption alongside a video about how to properly season when cooking.

However, it wasn’t the cooking lesson that most comments were interested in. Instead, many people were distracted by Ray’s appearance, with one Instagram user writing, “I didn’t even recognize her.”

“Did something happen to her?” said another.

“Is that Rachael Ray?” another asked.

Another added, “Holy crap I didn’t recognize who it was until I read the name.”

“I haven’t seen her is SO LONG. I’m genuinely wondering.. is she okay?” said one commenter.

“What happened to Ray Ray? She looks different,” wrote another.

“Can’t be her ?? No,” added another.

One Facebook commenter added, “Thats Rachel???!! Im speeches!! What happened!!??”

The past few months have been a difficult one for Ray after losing her mom, Elsa Scuderi, who died in 2025. In December, the Meals In Minutes star spoke to Yahoo about spending the holidays without her mom for the first time.

“It’s just not the happiest of holidays this year, but still one I’m filled with nothing but gratitude for,” she said. “It’s just a weird time of year to be without her.”

Fans had previously worried about Ray’s health after a September 2024 video in which some viewers thought she was slurring her speech. She later shared on her I’ll Sleep When I’m Dead podcast that she’d suffered a “couple bad falls.”

However, many others came to Ray’s defense, telling her to ignore the nasty comments.

“Remember people..not all thoughts need to be voiced. If you wouldn’t say it to her face in person then dont say it,” said one Instagram user.

“Come on people be nice, don’t judge or criticize. We never know why we change everyone’s body works differently than other women,” wrote another.

“She aged.. She’s had some health issues as well. What’s weird is people don’t know what aging is because everyone gets 100 surgeries and looks fake,” wrote one commenter.

Another added, “All the nasty ignorant, hateful comments. You’d think they never saw someone gain a little weight before.”

“Y’all people are so Unkind! She is wonderful!” said another.

“Some of you are so mean. May you walk in the shoes of another that you may understand suffering and learn compassion,” one fan added.

“OMG people!!! Life, time……we all age, if we are lucky,” added another.

When you are a celebrity and you choose that life you choose to have people comment on your life. You’re going to have people who are mean and you’re gonna have people who are genuinely concerned. I have gained a lot of weight, due to my own health problems. I’m in a calorie deficit every single day. But I continue to gain weight so I empathize with what she’s going through. I also have a lot of heartache and heartbreak right now. So I understand that. But what you have to understand is she is a celebrity. People are going to talk, especially when someone is literally unrecognizable. I didn’t recognize her at first, and then when I didn’t realize who it was, it broke my heart. I feel horrible for her. She looks like she has prednisone face. I’ve had that happen to me in the past her body does not look that heavy. She doesn’t look like she weighs 130 pounds….. but she also doesn’t look like she weighs 200 pounds. Puffy face often comes from medications. And when people are concerned, they’re going to ask what’s going on? Since that bothers you, you probably shouldn’t be on social media.

People need to seriously grow up and mind their own business. Not everyone is a size 2 and that’s fine. For some women, perimenopause/menopause is life altering. As soon as I hit peri, my metabolism vanished, and even though I barely eat, and what I do eat is all organic/free-range/grass-fed, I still gained 100 pounds because my body said, “Girl, your gonna go through some things.” I’ve now lost the weight I gained but it took 3x as long because I will never take the fat jab. My health was never an issue as I get regular bloodwork and physicals and I’m in perfect health despite still being a size 16. But I’m okay with that. I don’t want to be thinner. I don’t need to be. If my bloodwork indicates things are changing, then I’ll put in the work.

TL;DR: Leave Rachel Ray alone. She’s perfect as she is and knows more about her situation than rude randos on the internet.

I think she's way cuter now honestly (no offense intended, she was cute before- just even cuter now)
