As ‘Will Trent’ Hits Netflix, Why Procedural Fans Should Give It a Whirl Before Season 5

WILL TRENT - “Where’d You Come From, Little Angel?” - Will and the team investigate a string of murders, uncovering a case far from ordinary. Alone and grieving, Will faces a peril that leaves every breath a race against time. TUESDAY, APRIL 28 (8:00-9:00 p.m. EDT) on ABC. (Disney/Daniel Delgado Jr.) RAMÓN RODRIGUEZ

For those who have yet to give Will Trent a look, the series has finally arrived in full (at least, the four seasons that have already aired on ABC) on Netflix as of Tuesday, November 3. It makes now the perfect opportunity to catch up before Season 5 arrives early next year.

The quirky procedural is based on Karin Slaughter‘s book series and follows the dyslexic detective Will Trent (Ramón Rodríguez) as he solves Atlanta’s toughest cases through the Georgia Bureau of Investigations (GBI).

What makes Will Trent unique isn’t just the distinct way he approaches crime scenes — his mind allows him to recreate the events that unfolded in a way that only he can — but also, the things that are revealed about his own past and mindset along the way.

Without spoiling too much, we discover that Will was raised in the foster system as a child and has a very storied history with Atlanta PD’s Angie Polaski (Erika Christensen) and his own boss, Amanda Wagner (Sonja Sohn). As the onion is peeled on those relationships, along with Will’s relationship with his own dark history, there are truly jaw-dropping twists and emotional turns that will keep you hooked.

Throughout the seasons, there is also an eclectic array of cases, including some very fun celebrity cameos —including Ariana Madix and members of The Real Housewives of Atlanta — along with some very fun mind-warp gags that leave everyone guessing.

Will Trent is one of ABC’s shiniest stars, so the show isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Production has already begun in Season 5, so with a commercial-free binge option now on the table, this fall and winter will give you plenty of time to give it a whirl before the next season arrives on the network’s primetime schedule.
