‘Chesapeake Shores’: Will Jesse Metcalfe Return as Trace in Final Season?
As Abby’s (Meghan Ory) finding new love on Chesapeake Shores, we can’t help but wonder about her last love and the chances of seeing Jesse Metcalfe as Trace again, especially with the Hallmark Channel drama in its final season.
“I don’t want to tease anybody. We don’t see Trace again for the season,” executive producer Phoef Sutton told TV Insider. “We don’t see Trace again. He’s off discovering who he is and all that. And he’s not a part of the show anymore, so I wish him well.”
But could we hear about him as the series prepares to say goodbye? “Not really.”

Metcalfe exited the drama at the beginning of Season 5. In the second episode, Trace left town, explaining to Abby, “I need something new, somewhere new. I was staying here on account of you, but everything in this place reminds me of you.” And while he didn’t know where he was going, “I think there’s something missing inside of me. Tried to find it in my music, tried to find it in us, now I’m going to try to find it in myself.” They both deserved the best and “maybe now we’ll find it,” he said.
The Chesapeake Shores Season 6 premiere revealed that Abby called Evan (Robert Buckley) about giving them a try and ended with their first date (on a yacht!). “We had always intended her to choose Evan. He’s an exciting character and a really interesting match for her and a totally different match for her than Trace,” Sutton explained. “Their relationship will grow slowly and before you know it, they’ll be in it more than they perhaps had intended to be.”
With the drama in its final season, “a lot of stuff that maybe would’ve taken two or three seasons to do, we kind of had to move forward,” the EP said. “So a lot happens this year. It is a very exciting year.”
And maybe this won’t be the last time we see the O’Briens. “I love writing the show and I love these characters and I hope it’s not over,” Sutton admitted. Does that mean a spinoff? “Something. I don’t know. Something would be nice.”

I haven't watched an episode since Metcalfe left the show, and the final season will be no different. I don't know what is wrong with the writers for the show. Metcalfe didn't want to leave and would have come back if the writers and producers would have kept him and Abbey together. This show had the potential to run as long as Heartland but another show where the writers and producers were more concerned about their artistic liberties than they were producing a show that fans wanted to watch. They did the same thing with When Calls the Heart. One more reason I can't wait for GAFM to build up more of their own programming.

Telling you frankly I'd stopped watching the show since Trace left.He was an inspiration to the whole team. They got a good chemistry with Abbey in every aspect of the series. Watching the show is boring with out Tracey .If we are lucky to have Trace back in Seadon 7.pls. Your rating will be top 10 in NETFIX.

Once Again Abby Followed the Money. She Chose the Billionaire,
Surprise, Surprise. Sad Too, because a Reunion with Trace would Not Only Guaranteed Extremely High Ratings, but also Could have Set the Stage for a Spin-off of Abby and Trace’s Life Together. I Turned this One Off for Good, When Her Very Obvious Choice was Revealed. Actually It’s Too Bad that they Refused to Follow the Original Book to a More Realistic and Happier Conclusion.

Very disappointed how Abby and Trace ended. They were the interesting glue to the series. Boring without their relationship. Hallmark messed up on this very disappointing ending. Not interested in season 6.

I think Hallmark messed this one up. They should’ve brought Trace back into the show. Whatever their differences were with Jesse Metcalfe, they should’ve worked them out. That’s what the fans wanted. It’s disappointing.

Won't be watching the final season since Trace and Abby aren't getting back together. That sure would have been a great finally to this great series.

It is too bad that Hallmark thinks they can cancel shows when it is either too costly or too risky. This one makes no sense though, Chase should come back and save Abby from the ecentric tycoon who will ineviatably break her heart. Just another disappointment from Hallmark, its like they want to make me watch another channel and I have started.

The writing in Season 5 and 6 is boring. Abby and Evan are boring and have zero chemistry. Hallmark ruined this show for me. I don't watch anymore. I hope GAC Family picks it up. They would do right by the fans!

Crushed to learn Jesse Metcalfe (Trace) will not be returning to team with Meghan Ory (Abby). Really is disappointing especially as the darling duo, Laci J Mailey (Jess) and Carlo Marks (David) aren't returning due to Laci's (very blessed) pregnancy. Their chemistry brought so much spark and personality to the show after Trace and Abby were "on the rocks."
This is truly a disappointment 😞 the show is taking such a depressing turn. I simply can't stand to watch anymore of this.

I too think that Trace should have ended up with Abby. I don't like that money talks. Even the teacher got booted out because of a strange billionare. Abby needs someone strong, not another child she needs to take care of.

There is something missing without Trace. You keep expecting him to make a comeback. They keep playing his song so it hints he will be involved somehow. Abbey does not suit any of the others and her getting involved in another relationship just does not work. Her heart is not in it which is why there should have been an opening for Trace's return. Very disappointing series after Trace exits. Just doesn't work.

I started watching this show the end of last year and I really liked it. I just watched Tracy getting out of the picture. Even as a follower,it is easy to get over a character when they died than they get out of the series when one still in love with him. I can perceive Abby relocating her heart,but I am not so enthusiastic about any more.

Thataxthw reason the show didn't last. Abby is just after money after all. Trace waited for her but she left married someone she felt worthy of her. Can't even make a sacrifice for Trace and you, gets a billionaire. Yeah. How cheap.

I was hoping they would’ve sent him on his journey he made it big quick , came back to the shores and proceeded with the bar and all the things he wanted to happen there And not having to worry about money because his album made enough for life and he and Abby could live their lives together . But it’s all about the producers. That’s why the show didn’t last. They ruined it

I just finished the season yesterday and I felt really sad because I keep looking for trace and keep guesting if his the cousins of the Multi Billionaire but sad to say I just read the hot topic that trace will no longer be part , that’s really break my heart just today I was working and keep thinking about Trace and Abby a happy ending they really have a big impact with total package of chemistry .

This isn’t the only show Hallmark messed up! It’s been messed up since the middle of 2019. When it gets hard to watch a “FAMILY” show around your grandchildren due to some very controversial issues that have been introduced…I just say that’s enough for me to stop watching it!

I think Hallmark missed the boat on this one! Jesse help make the show! This new guy cannot compare and he’s so out of his element. It’s almost as bad as messing up the Mounty! Hallmark just can’t get it right. Also the fact that they are supporting gays on their shows is disgusting. I always thought this was one channel or network that we could watch and not worry about that!

Dear Mr. Phoef Sutton. I really like the Chesapeake Shores TV series, it's varied and good. But I have to say that season 6 is really incomplete. No matter how imaginative the role of Evan is, Abby hates this type of man because he's very childish and what he knows about life is only recommended and told to her by Mandrake. He may be a billionaire but he's not viable- Winters also divorced her ex-husband. And they call teacher Jay a band-aid. It's no coincidence that in her book, Woods brought Trace and Abby together as a second chance husband and wife. Good luck and the sequel is expected all over Europe. Regards, Goso

I have only seen this season. I was enthralled. Oh I want much much more. I am so sorry who truly pulled the plug and why. I loved the birth of the baby, the lawyers are the icing on the cake Treat William’s awesome oh older sister and her awesome but troubled maybe soon to be husband it’s great oh the new news we are pregnant couple.
Can’t you continue I am just beginning to know them all
