‘Late Show,’ ‘Organized Crime,’ ‘Watson’ & More Cancellations That Hurt the Most in 2026

Unfortunately, shows can’t last forever, but every year around this time come the cancellations and the final episodes that hammer that point home.

Some big shows are ending this year after cancellations. Late night TV just won’t be the same going forward with The Late Show With Stephen Colbert wrapping up in May; that one’s been hard to swallow since news of its cancellation in July 2025. (Its replacement has already been announced.)

At least two more CBS shows are also ending in May, including The Neighborhood, and we knew its current season would be its last ahead of its premiere.

Meanwhile, Peacock finally revealed the fate of Law & Order: Organized Crime after nearly a year, and a Hallmark Channel fan-favorite series will be signing off.

Scroll down to check out the shows we’re going to miss the most after this year, then let us know your picks in the comments section below. And keep checking back as this is updated as more cancellations are announced.

The Late Show With Stephen Colbert

Stephen Colbert has been a staple on late night on CBS for 11 seasons, and it’s just not going to be the same without his commentary, jokes, and engaging interviews. All we know is we’ll definitely be following whatever he does next — and hoping we get to hear monologues from him again soon!

Law & Order: Organized Crime

To be honest, we never thought we’d see Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler again after he left SVU, so having him back in this spinoff for any time was more than we expected. Still, its gritty, dark storylines seemed like the perfect fit for a streaming Law & Order, and for now, all we can hope is that we see him pop up on his former series alongside Mariska Hargitay.

The Neighborhood

At a time when cable and streaming comedies tend to pass the 30-minute mark and veer into more dramedy (or drama) then humor, it’s nice to have one that is what it should be. The Neighborhood has been that for eight seasons, and so it will be sad to see this comedy go. (Monday nights will also be changing on CBS, with the usual hour of comedy eliminated, in the fall of 2026.)

Morris Chestnut as Dr. John Watson — 'Watson' Season 2 Episode 8

Watson

CBS’ take on the iconic characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s books has been a revelation — Morris Chestnut as Dr. Watson? Love. Robert Carlyle as Sherlock Holmes who didn’t really die … or, rather, he did and seeing him is a symptom of Watson’s brain tumor? Fun. The medical cases are intriguing as well, and the fellows each bring something that make us want to know more about them. This drama will be missed.

Chyler Leigh, Andie MacDowell, Sadie Laflamme-Snow — 'The Way Home' Season 3 Finale
Peter Stranks / Hallmark Media

The Way Home

This Hallmark Channel drama brings something unique to television — the pond on the Landrys’ property allows their family members to travel through time to where they need, not want, to go. It opens up the show to explore the familial relationships across time, visit dark and fun time periods, and keeps setting up more and more questions while also giving us some of those answers we so crave. It’ll be a shame to see it end.
