‘Elsbeth’ Finale: First Look at Patti LuPone’s Debut & Carra Patterson’s Return (PHOTOS)

Patti LuPone is coming to Elsbeth. The Broadway icon will guest star in the Elsbeth Season 3 finale, and TV Insider has your exclusive first look at the episode, which also features Carra Patterson returning as Detective Kaya Blanke.

LuPone and Shrinking‘s Michael Urie will appear in the Elsbeth Season 3 finale, “That’s All,” airing on Thursday, May 21, at 10/9c on CBS. LuPone guest stars as legendary cabaret performer Ruby Lane, with Urie as philanthropist Monty Blakemont III. LuPone can be seen in the gallery below alongside Carrie Preston, Wendell Pierce, and Patterson. A behind-the-scenes photo shows the crooner with Midcentury Modern‘s Nathan Lee Graham, Elsbeth executive producer Jonathan Tolins, Patterson, and Preston. Ben Levi Ross also returns as Elsbeth’s son, Teddy, who appears on a stage in the sneak peek.

Here’s the official logline for the episode: “A minor royal’s mysterious death at New York’s most legendary hotel brings Elsbeth into a world of faded elegance, cabaret and murder.”

Preston previously told TV Insider that LuPone will sing in the finale.

“In the finale, we have Patti LuPone playing a murderess cabaret singer, and so we get to see Elsbeth go head-to-head with someone like that,” Preston shared at CBS Fest in April. “Elsbeth does get serenaded by this woman, and so we do get to have Patti LuPone singing to me, which is really amazing.”

“As far as where [Elsbeth is] going, we don’t end on a huge cliffhanger,” Preston added. “There’s some wonderful things that get wrapped up in a really beautiful way at the end of the season instead.”

Still to come this season: Tracey Ullman‘s return in a new role. TV Insider exclusively announced Ullman’s upcoming return. She’ll appear in the penultimate episode of Season 3, airing on May 14. This time, Ullman plays a veteran gossip columnist, Betty Heymouth.
