Nick Viall

Prior to going on Paradise, Nick was known as the two-time Bachelorette runner-up who just wasn’t quite good enough to get the girl. But, when he decided to take a chance at love on the beach back in 2016, everything changed for him. Not only did he become the loveable friend who gave great advice, he showed America why he deserved to be the next Bachelor. Everything changed for Nick thanks to Paradise.

Josh Murray

Going on Paradise was probably the biggest mistake of Josh’s life. OK, that may be an exaggeration, but the show did nothing to improve his standings within Bachelor Nation. He was constantly butting heads with Nick throughout his season and came off a bit controlling and hot-headed. Not to mention, neither of his two ex-fiancées — Andi Dormfan or Amanda Stanton — have had the nicest things to say about him.

Dean Unglert

Following his time on Rachel Lindsay’s season of The Bachelorette, most people were rooting for Dean’s success and sympathized with his difficult relationship with his father. But, when he joined Paradise and found himself in a bit of a love triangle with Kristina Schulman and Danielle Lombardi, his narrative changed. He went from the young guy with a tough home life to a player who likes to sleep around. Thankfully Dean handled it well and apologized for his actions.

Krystal Nielson & Chris Randone

Both Krystal and Chris joined Paradise back in Season 5 with a bit of baggage. Krystal was known as the “crazy girl” on Arie Luyendyk’s season of The Bachelor, and Chris was a bit of a villain during Becca Kufrin’s season of The Bachelorette. But, both Krystal and Chris came to Paradise open-minded and not only fell in love, they got engaged! The couple is now happily married, going strong, and a fan-favorite couple.

Jordan Kimball

Nobody took Jordan seriously prior to Season 5 of Paradise. He was just known as the goofy model who was funny on Becca’s season of The Bachelorette. But, when he fell in love with Jenna Cooper on Paradise, people really got to see the real Jordan, and all of America sympathized for him when their engagement went up in flames just a few months later.

Demi Burnett

Demi was a bit of a villain on Arie Luyendyk’s season of The Bachelor, but she’s certainly a fan-favorite on this recent season of Paradise. Not only is she hilarious, she’s also been open and honest about her sexuality. She’s also become close friends with practically every person in Bachelor Nation, so there’s really nothing not to love about Demi.

Blake Horstmann

Fans had so much sympathy for Blake after he was rejected by Becca Kufrin during her season of The Bachelorette. He seemed incredibly heartbroken and appeared to just want to find a nice woman to fall in love with. But, cut to this season of Paradise and things don’t necessarily look so good for Blake. He’s currently juggling a number of women and appears to be a bit of a player. So much for wanting to settle down and get married!

Hannah Godwin

The verdict is still out on Hannah, but she’s been looking a bit shady on this season of Paradise. She’s currently juggling relationships with both Blake and Dylan, which isn’t a crime, but it was revealed she was keeping the fact she and Blake had a fling prior to Paradise a secret. While the narrative hasn’t totally switched, it’s clear she’s not as innocent as she seems.

Over the years Bachelor in Paradise has lead to marriages, created babies, and established long-lasting friendships. However, it’s also been a place where Bachelor Nation rejects change their narrative for the better or fan-favorites blow their nice guy (or gal) image up in flames.

While at times Paradise has completely changed people’s perception of a contestant for the better, other times it’s been for the worse.

Here are nine contestants who totally changed their image after stepping on the beach in Paradise.
