‘9-1-1’: Buck & Eddie Head to ‘Nashville’ in Crossover Sneak Peek (VIDEO)

Buck (Oliver Stark) and Eddie (Ryan Guzman) are heading to Music City for the Thursday, March 5, episode of the 9-1-1 spinoff. And unsurprisingly, they’re going to be caught up in more than just the competition that brings them there.

ABC has released a trailer for the 9-1-1 and 9-1-1: Nashville crossover, and it offers a look at what’s going on in both hours next Thursday. First, on 9-1-1, in “Dads and Cads,” the network teases, “Maddie [Jennifer Love Hewitt] and Buck are blindsided by some unexpected news that turns their world upside down. Meanwhile, Buck and Eddie head to Nashville when they are selected to participate in the national firefighting games.” Then, in “Spirit of the Games” on the spinoff, “Buck and Eddie head to Nashville for the firefighter games. Tensions rise as Ryan [Michael Provost] and Don [Chris O’Donnell] show their competitive sides. When Don injures his hand, Blue [Hunter McVey] is forced to step into the competition for him.”

The video, which you can watch above, show Buck and Eddie in Nashville and seemingly stepping in to help during a call, as Don thanks them. It also offers a look at what Athena’s (Angela Bassett) dealing with in Los Angeles, an incident that brings together the L.A. and Nashville firefighters, and more.

When TV Insider spoke with 9-1-1: Nashville showrunner Rashad Raisani in January, he said that Buck and Eddie (and Stark and Guzman) “couldn’t be two better characters and two better people, two better actors who are just — wonderful chemistry, wonderful guys, and just brought a great sense of life and fun to our [show].”

He also previewed there’s “a heated rivalry between them, between Nashville and L.A., but one that is underpinned by love and admiration, and at the end of the day, kinship. And so that’s what the crossover hopefully is going to set the table, as I said before, to set this moving forward. But we had to have a first episode where they all get to know each other a little bit.”

He promised fun crossover character interactions, including that “Dixie [LeAnn Rimes] might have something to say to one or two of them.” That tracks with what Rimes told us while discussing the big Don, Dixie, and Blythe origin story episode. He also teased “a bit” of history between characters across the show, “not between Buck and Eddie, with our young ones, but maybe between some of the older characters.”
