Confirming what Meghan Markle told the BBC in her first interview following her engagement to Prince Harry—that she is retiring from acting—USA Network has officially confirmed that the actress will be leaving the network's hit drama Suits at the end of Season 7, which returns with new episodes in early 2018.
A statement from USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, which co-produce the series, read:
“From all of us at USA Network and Universal Cable Productions, we want to send our most heartfelt congratulations to Meghan Markle and Prince Harry on their engagement. Meghan has been a member of our family for seven years and it has been a joy to work with her. We want to thank her for her undeniable passion and dedication to Suits, and we wish her the very best.”
Will they be invited to the wedding?
A blog on USA's Suits site featured that joint statement, and also offered, perhaps bittersweetly, the following comment: "We can't tell you what the second half of Suits season seven has in store for Mike and Rachel, but we know there's at least one wedding featuring the beautiful Meghan Markle set for 2018!"
Suits Season 7 returns with new episodes in early 2018 on USA Network.
