What’s Worth Watching: Karing for Bruce on Keeping Up with the Kardashians

Keeping Up with the Kardashians, “About Bruce, Part 2” (Monday, May 18, 9/8c, E!)

Kardashians are people, too. In tonight’s conclusion of the much-hyped two-parter focusing on Bruce Jenner’s life as a transgendered woman and his decision to transition, Kim, Khloe, Kourtney, Kris, and whatever other brood members are currently out there clamor for camera time, all in the name of showing concern for their patriarch. And yes, the family is an easy target, with their penchant for self-promotion, but in this case, their aim seems to be twofold: come across as caring; and use their massive fame to do something that actually matters. And honestly, if Kim crying, or Khloe confessing that she’s scared for what Bruce may have to go through helps opens the minds of even a fraction of their fans, then all of the other craziness will have been worth it. Because in the end, it’s about Bruce Jenner getting to live his truth. And that is not always something we see on reality TV.
