What’s Worth Watching: Mixing Smarts With Heart on Big Bang

The Big Bang Theory, “The Commitment Determination” (Thursday, May 7, 8/7c, CBS)

No one ever said loving a certified genius would be easy. For Amy (Mayim Bialik), it has been a long five years of courting the brilliant but comically aloof Sheldon (Jim Parsons). And at times, it seems the engagement of Leonard (Johnny Galecki) and Penny (Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting) has gone on nearly as long—it’s lingered at least a year. So when Amy starts pressuring Sheldon to hurry their relationship along, Sheldon pesters his roomie and across-the-hall neighbor about setting a date. All of which leads to an emotional cliffhanger of a season finale, as each couple is expected to make potentially life-changing decisions. The formula for romantic comedy never looked quite like this, but we’re rooting for all of them.
