Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life (Sunday, Feb. 8, 7:30/6:30c, HBO)

We’re still two agonizing months away from the return of the one show on television that actually deserves the “epic” modifier that is so casually tossed around these days. However, HBO is taking pity on us poor common folk and throwing us this bone of a half-hour special designed to further whet our appetites. The series’ production can be a frenzied affair, what with filming taking place in three different countries. See the sweeping vistas of Spain that double for Dorne! Hear the cracking of glaciers in Iceland, where scenes north of the Wall are shot! Fervently hope that Sam gets stomped by a mammoth so he’ll stop whining about Gilly!
