Elementary, “Hemlock” (Thursday, Feb. 5, 10/9c, CBS)

With the tremendous Kitty Winter arc concluded, Elementary settles back into its familiar groove, like a broken-in La-Z-Boy but with better character development. Watson (Lucy Liu) and Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) try to narrow down the suspects in the murder of an unsavory debt collector, and Andrew (Raza Jaffrey) tries to convince Watson to meet his father. Andrew is a significantly better boyfriend than the one poor Jaffrey had to play on NBC’s dearly departed Smash (though he was indirectly responsible for the best proposal response in the history of television: “I can’t! I’m in tech!”), but there still isn’t something quite right about him and Joan. Maybe Papa Mittal can help out with that.
