What To Know

  • Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones will return with new episodes of Today With Jenna & Sheinelle after Labor Day weekend.
  • The fourth hour of Today has been airing prerecorded episodes featuring old segments since last month.
  • Jones officially replaced Hoda Kotb as Bush Hager’s permanent fourth hour co-host in January.

Jenna Bush Hager and Sheinelle Jones will soon be back in Today‘s Studio 1A.

The co-hosts have been noticeably absent from the NBC morning show in recent weeks, likely enjoying the end of summer with their friends and families. Since August 24, Today With Jenna & Sheinelle has aired prerecorded episodes featuring new opening conversations between Bush Hager and Jones, as well as re-airing old segments with celebrities and other guests.

On Friday, September 4, the show’s official Instagram page not only confirmed when the fourth hour of Today will return with new, live episodes, but also that the return will mark the start of a brand-new season.

“We’re shining. Our new season starts Tues., Sept. 8. #JennaandSheinelle,” read the post‘s caption. The upload featured a fun video montage of Bush Hager and Jones from their first few months as co-hosts.

“Can’t WAIT!!!” one fan commented underneath the post. Another added, “It will be a beautiful season with them.” Someone else shared, “They’re a good pair. I only wished Sheinelle could do both 3rd and 4th [hour].”

A different person posted, “Love them! They are so much fun and are a great team.” A separate commenter exclaimed, “BEST HOST COUPLE ON TELEVISION.”

Bush Hager joined the fourth hour of Today as Kathie Lee Gifford‘s replacement in 2019. She led the series with Hoda Kotb until the latter exited Today after nearly 20 years in January 2025. She then went on to host the fourth hour with a lineup of celebrity guest hosts under the new title Today With Jenna & Friends.

Jones, for her part, took several months off from Today last year in the wake of her husband Uche Ojeh‘s private brain cancer battle and his death at the age of 45 in May 2025. She returned to Today that September and guest-hosted Jenna & Friends with Bush Hager that same month.

In December 2025, Jones was announced as Bush Hager’s permanent new co-host. “When I came back from leave, I talked about fighting for my joy. This is what it looks like,” Jones said on Jenna & Friends at the time. “It feels divine. It feels like Uche’s up there with God, like, he’s Mr. Competitive, like, ‘Alright, let’s make this happen for Sheinelle.’ I put on his shirt this morning, and I said a little prayer, and I’m like, ‘Let’s go be with, not my friend, but my sister.'”

Jones also shared the advice Kotb gave her about becoming her replacement. “[Hoda said,] ‘You’re gonna talk about how this was a moment that changed your career, and it was the best decision for your kids, for you,'” she shared. “She was like, ‘Working with Jenna, it’s gonna be better than you can ever imagine. You’re gonna love it.'”

Kotb and Gifford surprised Jones during the first episode of Jenna & Sheinelle in January. “Can we just say how awesome you two look together? How amazing this day already is?” Kotb gushed on the show. “Y’all look so sweet together.”
