Roseanne Barr recently revealed that she has a “damaged heart” and discussed the possibility of “dying on the table” during surgery during a candid health update.
In a clip from her The Rosanne Barr Podcast posted on YouTube on March 30, the former Roseanne star, 73, shared an unexpected medical revelation while chatting about a cosmetic procedure.
“I want one of those ponytail facelifts. But his doctor says I have to go get my heart checked out because it’s damaged,” Barr told her guest, Shannon Hughey, and son, Jake Pentland. “So now I’m so pissed. Because I’m like, I need a new doctor.”
Barr then lamented, “He’s always sending me to other doctors to check me out. And I’m like, why do I have to go find something wrong when nothing’s wrong and then get in shape just so I can have surgery and die on the surgery table?”
Additionally, she confessed, “I would rather not get ready for any sort of surgery ever again in my life and just, you know, get a heart attack or a stroke, and then just be put into the home.”
“Stop,” Pentland insisted, with a laugh.
Barr also joked, “That is the life, living in the hospice. That is where life is worth living … Hospice is the greatest thing ever, and that’s where I want to go, to hospice.”
“And they just make you comfortable. They change your diapers,” Pentland eventually conceded.
Barr starred in Rosanne for 10 seasons from 1988 to 1997. Although she was set to reprise her role in the spinoff The Conners in 2018, Barr was fired following her controversial remarks about Michelle Obama. Her character was ultimately killed off in the first episode. The Conners aired for seven seasons, ending in 2025.
