Anna Gunn Reprises ‘Breaking Bad’ Role for Emmys Commercial — Fans React (VIDEO)

Anna Gunn is one of the few Breaking Bad stars who didn’t get to reprise her role for the series’ follow-ups, the prequel series Better Call Saul and the sequel film El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie. However, on Sunday (September 14), she finally got the chance to step back into Skyler White’s shoes … well, sort of.

Airing during the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards broadcast was a new commercial for Popwell featuring the actress in a kitchen with similar vibes to the White’s Albuquerque, New Mexico, house in the decorated AMC series, as she scolded cooks and winked to the series’ iconic “Say my name” line.

“Trust me. Cooking leads to bad things — like some sodas who cook the flavor out of their ingredients. Popwell doesn’t cook, it’s cold crafted, carefully and legally made in a cold environment. It’s full of vitamins, prebiotic goodness, and cold-crafted flavor. So break from those other sodas and their cooks. Say. The. Name. Popwell,” she said in the commercial.

It’s not the first time a Breaking Bad star has channeled their character for a commercial. Previously, Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul returned to their roles for a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for PopCorners.

Fans reacted to the sight of Gunn being back on their screens as the long-suffering Skyler for the commercial on social media.

“Anna Gunn on my screen again OMFG Jesus literally was seen…” one fan wrote in response to the ad’s airing. “ANNA GUNN ON SCREEN AT EMMYS?? PLURIBUS COMEBACK IS REAL!!!” another wrote.

Gunn starred in the hit drama series for all six seasons, from 2006 to 2013, and won an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her turn as Skyler in 2013. She was also nominated in 2012 and 2014. She also previously reprised her role in 2016 for a voice role in an episode of Robot Chicken.
