‘House of Kardashian’ Docuseries Starring Caitlyn Jenner Sets U.S. Streaming Date (VIDEO)
House of Kardashian, a British docuseries about the Kardashian family’s rise to fame and global impact, will soon make its streaming debut in the United States.
Caitlyn Jenner is heavily featured in House of Kardashian, which examines the famous family’s dynamic, personal struggles, and business empire. It will debut on Peacock on Thursday, November 16. Other members of the Karashian-Jenner family declined to take part in the three-part docuseries.
While you can’t expect to see exclusive interviews with Kim, Khloé, and Kourtney Kardashian or Kris, Kendall, or Kylie Jenner, other family insiders, such as Kim’s former friend Rachel Sterling, appear in the series. It also features never-before-seen archival footage of the famous family.
House of Kardashian starts with a look at Kris’s life and career before Keeping Up with the Kardashians, focusing on her marriage with the late Robert Kardashian Sr. It wouldn’t be a complete history of the Kardashians without addressing Kim’s infamous sex tape, so that’s also covered in the series, as is the launch of Keeping Up with the Kardashians that came not long after. It then dives into the family’s presence in pop culture in recent years, as well as their global impact.
In the trailer above, Caitlyn is heard saying, “Kimberly calculated from the beginning, ‘How do I become famous?'” Another interviewee says “the sex tape was a means to an end” intended to stir up “controversy.” Caitlyn is also asked what it was like working with her ex-wife, and she chuckles in response.
Caitlyn told The Times newspaper in the U.K. that she agreed to appear in the series to defend the family, not disparage it. “When they approached me about doing this show, once I thought about it, I thought, ‘You know what? I want to get involved,'” she said. “‘I want to do my best to be very positive and really represent the family and the kids in a positive way.'”
When the series was announced in August, Caitlyn said in a statement that she “was happy to participate in the interview process to share my side which points to the strength, influence, and prowess my family has in captivating the world’s attention and keeping it over the years,” per Variety. “I am incredibly proud of all my children and stepchildren.”
House of Kardashian comes from the U.K.’s Sky Documentaries and is produced by Fremantle’s 72 Films. It’s directed by Katie Hindley and executive produced by Clare Cameron, with 72 Films’ creative director John Douglas. Poppy Dixon, director of documentaries and factual at Sky, commissioned the doc.
“Whether you like, loathe or are indifferent to the Kardashians, you cannot deny the family’s grip on popular culture and influence on society,” Dixon said in a statement in August. “The story behind how these women redefined the word dynasty, all whilst our attitude to celebrity, race and women has changed, is inspiring, thought-provoking and tells us so much about ourselves. 72 Films are experts in taking these cultural juggernauts and exploring them through ambitious and intelligent storytelling, underpinned with strong journalism and lots of juicy revelation.”
