Supernatural alum Misha Collins is returning to The CW as he is set to portray Batman villain Harvey Dent (aka Two-Face) in the upcoming Gotham Knights pilot.

Collins confirmed the news himself on Wednesday morning (March 23), tweeting a photo of Aaron Eckhart’s Harvey Dent from Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. “I’ve asked if my version of the character could be wearing a beige trench coat over the grey suit. (I’m just not sure I’ll be comfortable in front of a camera without one.),” Collins joked, referencing the outfit often worn by his Supernatural character Castiel.

Last month, the CW ordered a pilot for Gotham Knights, which is set to take place following Bruce Wayne’s murder, with his rebellious adopted son forming an unlikely connection with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for the killing. Together, this “band of misfits” become the Gotham Knights, as they fight to protect a crime-ridden Gotham with no Caped Crusader to watch over it.

This marks Collins’ first television role since Supernatural ended its 15 season run in 2020. He played the angel Castiel for 12 of those seasons, first appearing in a recurring role in Season 4 before being upped to a leading role in Season 5. His other TV credits include medical drama ER, CBS police procedural CSI: NY, Ryan Murphy’s Nip/Tuck, and NBC’s sci-fi drama Timeless.

In addition to Collins, the upcoming pilot stars Fallon Smythe (Grown-ish) and Tyler DiChiara (The Virgin of Highland Park) as brother-and-sister Harper and Cullen Row.

The pilot was written by Natalie Abrams, Chad Fiveash, and James Stoteraux, who are known for their work on The CW’s Batwoman and Fox’s Gotham, though it is said not to be a spin-off. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and David Madden serve as executive producers.
