Mandy Patinkin to Lead ‘Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem’ at Hulu
Hulu is making another murder mystery. Mandy Patinkin will star in Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem, which the streaming service has ordered to series.
“How do you solve a murder in a post-fact world?” the description of the “genre-bending thriller” asks. “Especially when sailing the Mediterranean on an ocean liner filled with the wealthy and powerful. Everyone on board is hiding something… but is one of them a killer? That’s what the world’s once greatest detective, Rufus Cotesworth, and his protégée aim to discover. The truth at all costs.”
Patinkin (The Good Fight, Homeland) will play Detective Cotesworth, with Violett Beane (God Friended Me) as his protégée, Imogene. Rounding out the cast are Lauren Patten (Blue Bloods, The Good Fight), Rahul Kohli (Midnight Mass, The Haunting of Bly Manor), Angela Zhou (Hell on Wheels, Supergirl), Hugo Diego Garcia, and Pardis Saremi.
Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem will consist of 10 hour-long episodes. Mike Weiss (Stumptown, Chicago P.D.) and Heidi Cole McAdams (Stumptown, The 100) serve as co-showrunners, writers, and executive producers. Marc Webb (Why Women Kill, The Republic of Sarah, 500 Days of Summer) directed the pilot and executive produces for Black Lamb. Mark Martin (The Republic of Sarah) also executive produces.
Patinkin was nominated for an Emmy for his performance in Homeland, which ended in 2020 after eight seasons. He’s been a stage and screen star for decades, and his other TV credits include Criminal Minds, Dead Like Me, and Chicago Hope. Beane previously appeared on The Resident, The Flash, and The Leftovers.
The series is produced by ABC Signature for Hulu. The studio also produces the streaming service’s Dollface. It joins Hulu’s catalogue of dramas, including The Handmaid’s Tale, Nine Perfect Strangers, The Dropout, Pam & Tommy, and The Girl From Plainville.
