Coming to the forefront of the conversation in the clip, above, Pastor Cal gets straight to the point, asking, “Have you guy’s talked about finances?” As viewers will recall from earlier this season, Steve isn’t currently employed in a full-time position, which certainly poses some drawbacks from the fiscally responsible Noi.

She takes the lead in answering Pastor Cal’s question, admitting that she and Steve have recently talked about kids and finances, but both things come hand in hand. “Kids cost money, they’re expensive,” Noi acknowledges of the elements cost it takes to raise children.  “It’s a little scary for me… because I don’t want to have to worry about money.”

So, where does her fear come from? Pastor Cal hints at it as he says, “you guys struggled and that’s kind of a sensitive thing for you.” The struggles Pastor Cal refers to are Noi’s childhood growing up in a refugee camp. “He doesn’t know the full extent,” she admits of clueing Steve into her fears.
