‘Wheel of Fortune’: Confusing Puzzle Has Fans Demanding a Redo For Unlucky Contestant

Wheel of Fortune fans are demanding that Monday’s contestant Kennise Miller be given another shot at the Bonus Round following a confusing puzzle that may or may not have involved the rapper Yung Joc.

After bagging almost $30,000 in prize money and a vacation in Maui, Miller was faced with a “person” category in the Bonus Round. Unfortunately, Miller failed to solve the nine-letter puzzle, the answer for which turned out to be “Young Jock.” That’s when Twitter came alive.

Many assumed the puzzle was referring to the rapper Yung Joc, the artist behind the 2006 hit “It’s Goin’ Down” and current cast member on VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Except, if that was the case, the show massively bungled the spelling and unintentionally sabotaged Miller.

“It’s Yung Joc not Young Jock. She should have another shot,” wrote one Twitter user. “Why in the world would you even use the name and not research?”

Another viewer added, “You all cheated tonight bonus round contestants. His name is “Yung Joc” not “Young Jock”. C’mon guys!”

However, not everyone believed the answer was a reference to the Atlanta rapper, but some still had an issue with the puzzle itself. Many thought that “Young Jock” didn’t make sense as an answer to a “person” category, with others believing it to be an outdated term.

“YOUNG JOCK. As opposed to OLD JOCK…..What the heck is this. Who even uses this term anymore,” tweeted one viewer.

Whether the show meant Yung Joc or a young athlete, Williams is probably not losing sleep over it, as she still walked away with $28,200 and a trip to Hawaii in her future.

    Nope. The category was Person. If the answer was Yung Joc the category would have been Proper Name. They never use a proper name in the Person category, it's always a descriptive like Handy Man or Silly Child.

    I think that there are too many “New School” WOF players. The category was Person and Young Jock IS A PROPER PUZZLE! That’s what High School and College Athletic players were Always referred to in our days…about 40 years ago. When they want a tight race…they use puzzles like that, a lot of times.

    I think to many people can’t guess the real answer so they have to justify their wrong answer. Find a purpose that redeems humanity not constant tearing down!

    The contestant has not complained, fans have complained. The show used an outdated term, and that's the issue. If they want the show to continue, they need younger viewers as well as older viewers, so putting terms that aren't in use anymore in their puzzles is going to lead to less younger players and lessyounger viewers. Also less in sponsorship.

    Pat doesn't say it as often as Chuck Woolery did, but at one time, it was common to say (on the air) that PERSON doesn't necessarily mean proper name. (He did, however, say it on a recent celebrity edition)

    I suspect the contestants are made aware of this at some point during their briefing.

    Wow...... remember when people had at least enough self awareness to know how stupid they are. Whether "young jock" is a term that is currently used a lot is irrelevant. If they put "typewriter" up there, are your feelings still hurt? Amazing that people are so brain dead and obtuse they can't grasp the actual use of an adjective and a noun....aka....young jock.

    Some people paid attention for 13 years in school so they don't have to mow lawns and pour coffee at 35.

    Wheel of fortune is really starting to p@$$ me off. The other day the bonus puzzle was solved in time but bc it wasn’t said all together they didn’t win!!! WTH kind of rule is that. Gimme a break. Ridiculous changing the station!!!!

    If your upset at the supposed improper spelling keep in mind the category chosen was person not proper name , although I do admit not many people say "young jock" when referencing a younger athlete.... I agree to the redo though based on that
