‘Heroes Reborn’ Boss Promises “Beginning, Middle and End” To Story
A new batch of ordinary people with extraordinary abilities are poised to come together and save the world in NBC’s Heroes Reborn, and creator and executive producer Tim Kring wants viewers to know he has a definitive plan when it comes to telling this new story.
“The biggest pitfall for us [on Heroes] was always the amount of story we had to tell in a season,” Kring told the Television Critics Association Press Tour on Thursday. “The contract we are making with the audience is that this is 13 episodes. A beginning, middle and end. When you log onto this show and watch it, you know you are going to get an end.”

Fans of the original series, which aired for four seasons before being canceled in 2010, can expect to see some familiar faces return in the reboot, including Jack Coleman (HRG). “Some of the actors did not have the availability because they were involved in other things, but he story was really the thing that dictated who would come back,” said Kring, adding Masi Oka’s Hiro and Sendhil Ramamurthy’s Mohinder will each appear “in a couple of episodes.”
As for the new characters, Kring was particularly high on Kiki Sukezane’s Miko Otomo, a girl from Tokyo trying to track down her missing father, which he called the “most unique character the show has ever had.” Zachary Levi, who plays the mysterious Luke Collins, did not divulge any details about his character, only saying he was “bad and misunderstood. We’ve been given this really cool world to play characters that are ambiguous.”
Heroes Reborn premieres Thursday, September 24 at 8/7c on NBC.
