Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life

This morning, Netflix released the first official trailer for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, and it’s pretty much everything Gilmore fans would expect: Lots of chatter and references to Ben Affleck as Batman, improperly-held coffee cups, a grumpy Luke (Scott Patterson), a weird Kirk (Sean Gunn), a bored Michel (Yanic Truesdale) and a glimpse of just about everyone in Stars Hollow, including Sookie (Melissa McCarthy).

What’s more surprising is what’s going on with the Gilmore girls themselves: Lorelai (Lauren Graham) feels like she’s happy but her life with Luke isn’t quite what she’s looking for as she gets deep into her 40s; Rory (Alexis Bledel) is leading a Jack Kerouac life, as her mother Lorelai puts it, but wants to start putting down roots; and Emily (Kelly Bishop) is feeling lost without her husband Richard (Edward Herrmann, who died in 2014). “Half of me is gone,” she says.
