Where Are the Former Hosts of ‘The View’ Now?
The View is gearing up for its landmark 30th season, and one of its former hosts seems raring to return, one is threatening to write a tell-all about her experience, and one just wants to be left alone. The ABC talk show has been a hotbed of behind-the-scenes gossip, and several alumni feel burned by their time on the show.
Meanwhile, many ex-View stars have moved on to new career pursuits. Here are updates on all 18 of them, starting with the show’s late creator.
The View, Weekdays, 11a/10c, ABC
Barbara Walters
Walters, the longtime ABC News journalist who created the show and cohosted it until 2014, died at age 93 in 2022. “She was not just a friend to us, she was one of a kind and very important to the industry,” fellow O.G. cohost Joy Behar said as The View memorialized Walters.
Meredith Vieira
Vieira, who departed The View in 2006, now hosts of the syndicated game show 25 Words or Less. She’s also going through transitions in her personal life: Her husband, Richard Cohen, died in 2024 at age 76, and earlier this year, she listed her NYC penthouse for sale, according to TMZ.
Star Jones
Jones also left The View in 2006 and is now hosting the syndicated court show Divorce Court. “Having the [opportunity] to bring it into your home in a compassionate and empathetic way is really one of the most wonderful things that has happened in my career,” she told TV Insider in 2022.
Debbie Matenopoulos
Matenopoulos exited The View in 1998 but has returned as guest host recently, and she has also acted in A Paris Christmas Waltz and The Image of You. She did say on social media recently, however, that after serving as The View’s youngest cohost, she “still [has] PTSD 30 years later.”
Lisa Ling
Ling got her View job after Matenopoulos’ exit and remained on the show until 2002. More recently, she had a two-year stint as a CBS News contributor before getting laid off under the news organizations’ new management.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck
Hasselbeck, a View panelist from 2003 to 2013, recently returned to the show as a guest host. She also guest-hosted CBS Mornings recently, leading to suspicions she was being eyed as a possible full-time coanchor.
Rosie O’Donnell
O’Donnell, a cohost of The View’s 2006–2007 and 2014–2015 seasons, just wrapped up an off-Broadway one-woman show titled Rosie O’Donnell: Common Knowledge, and she is booked as a Jimmy Kimmel Live! guest host for this summer. Meanwhile, she’s open to returning to The View as a guest host, too.
Sherri Shepherd
Shepherd hosted the syndicated daytime talk show Sherri until it wrapped its four-season run this May. “It was a bittersweet end to a life I got to know so well. But here is to new beginnings,” she wrote on social media at the time. “If you thought you were sick of me before, just you wait.”
Jenny McCarthy
McCarthy, a comedian who controversially cohosted The View from 2013 to 2014, has been a celebrity panelist on The Masked Singer since 2019. And she’s been married to Boston Blue actor Donnie Wahlberg since 2014.
Nicolle Wallace
Wallace had a one-season run on The View between 2014 and 2015. Her run on MS NOW (formerly MSNBC) has lasted far longer, as she has hosted Deadline: White House on the cable news channel since 2017. Wallace married journalist Michael Schmidt in 2022 and welcomed her second child the following year.
Rosie Perez
Perez also left The View in 2015 after one season at the table. Since then, she has continued her acting career, starring in the TV series Before and holding recurring voice parts on Big Mouth and Grimsburg. She also played herself in the 2025 Spike Lee film Highest 2 Lowest.
Raven-Symoné
Raven-Symoné joined The View in 2015 and departed the following year to star in the Raven’s Home, a That’s So Raven follow-up that finished its run in 2023. She also hosted one season of the latest iteration of the game show Scrabble. Soon, fans will see Raven–Symoné in the TV movie sequel The Cheetah Girls: Next Gen.
Michelle Collins
Collins, whose View tenure also lasted from 2015 to 2016, now hosts the podcast The Michelle Collins Show. She recently sounded off about not being invited to The View’s 30th anniversary plans. “@theviewabc do you need my new address?” she wrote on Instagram.
Candace Cameron Bure
Bure, another member of The View’s 2015–2016 class, is now the chief creative officer of Great American Media and the star of Great American Family’s Ainsley McGregor Mysteries TV movie series. She’ll compete in Season 5 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, premiering on September 24.
Paula Faris
Faris also joined The View in 2015 but lasted until 2018. These days, she and her husband, John Krueger, team up on the parenting podcast The Paula Faris Show. She also talks “all things working parents, midlife, and other musings” on her Substack newsletter.
Jedediah Bila
Bila, who starred on The View from 2016 to 2017, now hosts The Jedediah Bila Show, on which she covers topics including dating, marriage, friendship, and health. Her website says she’s been “embracing nature” with her husband and son in Texas, where she enjoys home-cooked food, sunshine, fresh air, and good sleep.
Meghan McCain
After ending her year-run on The View in 2021, McCain became a Daily Mail columnist. She also cohosts the podcast Citizen McCain alongside Miranda Wilkins, on which she talks news, culture, and gossip. She recently said she has “no desire” to return to The View.
Abby Huntsman
Huntsman’s 16-month View run ended in 2020, but she returned to the show as a guest host earlier this year (and got into it with Behar). Her podcast I Wish Somebody Told Me has been dormant since 2022, but her Instagram shows she’s been spending quality time with her husband and three kids.
