‘Happy’s Place’ Reunites ‘Taxi’ Stars Christopher Lloyd & Carol Kane in First Look (VIDEO)

Two TV legends are heading to Happy’s Place as Taxi vets Christopher Lloyd and Carol Kane step into the titular bar for Season 2’s new episode, “Izzy and the Professor,” airing Friday, December 19.

The duo’s guest-starring roles were previously teased by NBC, and now newly released images and a promo revealing their roles as Clive and Theresa offer extra insight. In the episode, Isabella (Belissa Escobedo) steps back into the dating pool, and big sister Bobbie (Reba McEntire) can’t wait to meet her new man, until she learns that Isabella is dating her professor.

Meanwhile, Gabby (Melissa Peterman) and Steve (Pablo Castelblanco) are obsessing over a lost phone that Takoda (Tokala Black Elk) finds in the men’s room. It turns out that the missing phone belongs to Clive, who comes back into the bar to retrieve it. Theresa is Clive’s wife, who is described as a free-spirited woman in pursuit of justice and excitement, as well as her husband.

In the new promo, above, fans get their first peek at Lloyd and Kane in action as Clive and Theresa, who seem to get frisky as patrons of Happy’s Place. After it was announced Lloyd and Kane would guest star, TV Insider caught up with Peterman, who shared, “It was really surreal” to film with the TV legends.

Peterman noted that the day the episode was filmed “was where everybody on the lot who had any sort of tie to the show decided to stop by because it was the legendary Christopher Lloyd and Carol Kane.” The star added, “In real life, [Kane and Lloyd] are really close good friends and so it’s wonderful to watch them together and how much they care for each other, make each other laugh, and obviously have a long relationship.”

She teased, “There was a moment when I said a line to Christopher Lloyd, and he said it back to me in a timbre that sounded like a mix between Reverend Jim and Doc Brown, and I swear, I almost passed out.”

Kane and Lloyd played Simka Dahblitz-Gravas and Reverend Jim Ignatowski in the late ’70s and early ’80s comedy, which ran for five seasons, originally premiering on ABC before moving to NBC.
