The Shondaland Crossover and a ‘TWD’ Death in This Week’s ‘Cheers & Jeers’

CHEERS to the How to Get Away with Scandal Crossover
Thank you to the TGIT crossover for using its powers for good. Sure there were juicy, scenery-chewing scenes for both Viola Davis and Kerry Washington as Annalise and Olivia teamed up for a Supreme Court case.
But what this two-part gift to Shondafans really delivered was a heartbreaking and so-needed lesson in how the legal system continues to fail the black community despite the civil rights everyone is promised in this country.
(Also, ABC gets bonus points for airing this one right at the handoff from Black History Month to Women’s History Month.)

JEERS to The X-Files‘ hair-raising misstep
Forget blobfish and William’s parentage. Gillian Anderson’s wig should have been one of the cases Mulder and Scully investigated this season. We’d make a “truth is out there” joke, but truth be told, we’re afraid that thing on her head might come after us.

JEERS to Arrow for giving the NTA a second shot
As much as we love Juliana Harkavy’s Dinah as Black Canary, this whole New Team Arrow vs. Original Team Arrow stuff is more bullsh*t than bull’s eye. Oliver has enough to worry about without his recruits uniting against him again for being who he’s been all along. Ya’ll signed on to work with the guy knowing he was a little shady, so shut it or ship out.

CHEERS to whomever edits the promos at Bravo
Like the mafia, every time we think we’re done with The Real Housewives of New York, they pull us back in with an expertly cut-down sizzle reel full of new reasons to tune-in. This time? It’s all about the Countess’ arrest and whatever bad blood is brewing between Bethenny and Carole.

CHEERS to The Walking Dead for doing what it should have done seasons ago
‘Nuff said.
