It’s just under two months until This Is Us fans will be reintroduced to the Pearson family for some more emotional moments.

During the Season 2 finale, fans were left with many unanswered questions, including how Toby’s (Chris Sullivan) apparent depression was reignited. Thankfully, Sullivan is giving fans some hope for answers with a recent social media post.

“Stopped by the #ThisIsUs Writer’s Room. Uh…oh! Looks like we’re digging deep this season. @NBCThisisUs @ThisIsUsWriters @Dan_Fogelman,” wrote the actor on Twitter.

During the final moments of the episode featuring Toby and Kate’s (Chrissy Metz) wedding, fans were offered some mysterious flash forward sequences involving “The Big 3.” Of course the biggest mystery still remains with Randall (Sterling K. Brown) and Tess’s (Iantha Richardson) flash forward, but Kevin (Justin Hartley) and Kate’s near-future flash-forwards will hopefully yield some answers in Season 3.

In the first two seasons, fans were made aware that Toby has had severe depression in the past, and we’re anxious to see what spawned the bout he’s going through in that teased future. Fans were also introduced to Toby’s parents played by Wendie Malick and Dan Lauria who were anything but helpful on their son and Kate’s big day.

It would be interesting to see them play more of a role this season, and as indicated by Sullivan’s social media post, we’re likely to see them return for this origin storyline. Along with Toby, creator Dan Fogelman has confirmed that fans will learn more about Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and Rebecca’s (Mandy Moore) origin story as a couple as well as more about his time in Vietnam.

Luckily, the countdown has begun for fans as This Is Us is only weeks away from its Season 3 premiere. Hopefully, a trailer is coming soon, as filming has been underway for nearly a month.
