Stranger Things alum is heading to This Is Us this fall!

Actor Rob Morgan — best known for his roles as Officer Powell in Stranger Things, Hap Jackson in Mudbound, and Turk Barrett in Netflix’s Marvel series (Luke CageDaredevilThe DefendersJessica Jones)  — has been cast in an important (and revealing) Season 3 role, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

Morgan will play Solomon Brown, a city councilman and longtime Philadelphia fixture, overseeing the district where William (Ron Cephas Jones) once lived before meeting Randall (Sterling K. Brown). Morgan’s character is described as “smart and charming, a family man and regular churchgoer.”

But Solomon Brown is a “mover and a shaker,” as they say, in the world of politics. He knows how to make his moves and succeed while doing it.

“Someone starts entering the world of local politics,” This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman tells THR about Season 3. “It’s nothing big and national — nothing Republican vs. Democrat or left vs. right — but we’re going to dive into some community hot political waters with a surprising character.”

Fogelman didn’t reveal anything further, but its safe to assume that Randall and Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson) may have something to do with this plot point. After all, they purchased the old building that William once lived. Fans will just have to wait and find out for sure when This Is Us returns in September!
