TNT’s drama The Last Ship is setting sail one final time for a Season 5 voyage.

Following the aftermath of an epidemic that nearly wiped out the world’s population, The Last Ship will focus on recovery from the virus that devastated the globe’s population. But despite the physical healing going on, the political turmoil continues to stir.

Tom (Eric Dane) is now retired and his former crew has gone their separate ways, with many of them continuing on in the Navy. When some of Tom’s former team members — Sasha Cooper (Bridget Regan), Lieutenant Danny Green (Travis Van Winkle), SBS WO-N Wolf Taylor (Bren Foster), and Sergeant Azima Kandie (Jodie Turner Smith) — are wrongly accused of attacking the Panamanian president, the United States faces severe consequences.

Because of this, Nathan James will be forced to fend off an invasion by Latin America, “and the next world war.” And as the show ventures out on its final voyage, it makes sense that Season 5 will be the series’ biggest yet.

“Season 5 is The Last Ship at its most epic, upping the ante on action and excitement, but at its core, it underscores the costs of prolonged war and the toll it takes on the heroes who fight it,” reads the logline.

The network also showed fans what to expect in the final season with an all-new teaser trailer. Watch the clip below, and make sure to tune in!
