Outlander‘s dramatic third season has come to a close, and it has been one hell of a ride. Just to briefly recap, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) traveled back in time 200 years to reunite with the love of her life, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), in 18th century Scotland.

The Bostonian doctor left their daughter, Brianna (Sophie Skelton), behind with her new suitor Roger (Richard Rankin), knowing she may never see her child again.

And once in each other’s arms again, Jamie and Claire’s life was anything but simple: dead bodies, fires, angry Jenny (Laura Donnelly), a second wife (Nell Hudson), and then the kidnapping of Young Ian (John Bell) by pirates, which forced the pair to embark on a long and treacherous sea voyage to Jamaica.

And of course, danger followed in the forms of typhoid fever, large snakes, dehydration, a freaky Father Fogden, and a sinister blast from the past: Geillis Duncan.

But enough about Season 3. What can fans expect from Season 4?! The hit Starz series will be based on Diana Gabaldon‘s Drums of Autumn novel, which is the fourth book in the Outlander series.

In the book, Jamie and Claire settle in colonial America. Meanwhile in the 20th century, Brianna and Roger are adjusting to their lives but fate intervenes when they discover a critical piece of historical information that may jeopardize Jamie and Claire’s safety. What will they do?
