Jason Ralph and Stella Maeve speak at The Magicians Panel during 2017 New York Comic Con - Day 3 on October 7, 2017 in New York City.

The Magicians lit up New York Comic Con at Saturday’s panel in Hammerstein Ballroom.

The panel featured stars Jason Ralph, Stella Maeve, Olivia Taylor Dudley, Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta and creators Sera Gamble and John McNamara to spill some magical beans on the Syfy seriess’ Season 3 (like the fact that parts of Season 3 will take place on a Fillorian ship). In addition, a 3-minute preview clip was shown that you won’t want to miss.

At the end of Season 2, despite magic coming to an abrupt halt, we learned in the final moments that Julia (Maeve) still had some sparks, leaving our magical gang with a bit of hope.

Syfy also aired a party scene clip from Season 3—because what would The Magicians be without its party scenes?— where Quentin (Ralph) and Julia try to have a meeting with a god that doesn’t go super well. Why are they doing this? In the first episode of the new season, “Quentin theorizes that if they can talk to another God, that other God might be able to help them restore magic,” according to Gamble. Sounds reasonable, right? Just wait and see.

The EPs also teased a new dynamic viewers will see form between Julia and Alice (Dudley) in regards to Julia’s mini-magical-sparks. “Well it’s something that we investigate very deeply as the season goes on,” Gamble says. “There’s some really great moments between her [Julia] and Alice coming up.”

And as if to give us zero hope for happiness between these characters, Gamble teases, “We like to say it’s a season where they’re very, very, very f**ked.” As if they haven’t all been through enough by now.
