‘The Bold Type’ Renewed for Seasons 2 and 3
Prepare to be inspired, made insanely jealous by beautiful Brooklyn apartments and woke AF, because Freeform has renewed its freshman series The Bold Type for two more, 10-episode seasons.
Set at a women’s magazine in New York City, The Bold Type follows twentysomething besties Sutton (Meghann Fahy), Jane (Katie Stevens) and Kat (Aisha Dee) as they navigate their love lives, burgeoning careers and wardrobes women less than five years out of college only dream of.
“At Freeform, we are committed to delivering shows that celebrate the power and possibility of the female voice,” Karey Burke, Freeform’s EVP of programming and development, said in a statement. “Season 1 of The Bold Type brought culturally significant stories to the masses that not only entertain, but also empower our viewers to conquer the world—we are excited to continue to champion these incredible women.”
There will be one major change for the showing moving forward: creator and showrunner Sarah Watson is being replaced by former Sweet/Vicious showrunner Amanda Lasher. Watson and the network reportedly had the infamous “creative differences,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
