Lifetime Orders Docuseries About Female Preachers
Lifetime is looking for an “Amen” with its new woman-preacher-focused docuseries. Preach follows four Ohio “Prophetesses” as they tend to their respective flocks, healing wounds both physical and psychic. More interesting, however, are the protégés chosen by each of the preachers: Some are lost souls who’ve found new life in their church, another a regular woman struggling with the same career-life balance her non-evangelical counterparts do. One is a Muslim woman who converted to Christianity, which ought to make for some good televised learning experiences.
Here are the four “Prophetesses”:
Belinda Scott (Cleveland Heights, Ohio)
A “Major Prophet” who counsels both the great and small.
Taketa Williams (Columbus, Ohio)
Called by some the “Beyoncé of the Preaching World.”
Linda Roark (Trenton, Ohio)
The “Blue-Eyed Soul Sister.”
Kelly Crews (Cleveland, Ohio)
Belinda’s former protégé.
Preach premieres Friday, June 5, at 10/9c on Lifetime.
