Checkmate! Weird Loners Plays Human-Sized Chess

Weird Loners, “Weird Knight” (Tuesday, April 21, 9:30/8:30c, Fox)

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any weirder, Weird Loners gives us an episode featuring a human chess league match. Of course it’s puppeteer Eric who spends his free time on this bizarre hobby, and when he needs a favor, Caryn ends up going on a date with one of his dorky teammates Carl, played by guest star Willie Garson (White Collar). While Carl isn’t exactly her knight in shining armor, Caryn’s interest is sparked when she doesn’t get a call post-date. Suddenly, she wants what she can’t have, and winds up going to extremes to get it –hopping onto a giant checkerboard dressed as a pawn.

Meanwhile, our other two Loners Zara and Stosh are competing at an art contest after Stosh convinces her to enter with him as the agent to her budding artist. Considering Stosh’s complete lack of professionalism, we can’t imagine this going too well unless he somehow manages to seduce the judges, even though his skills in seduction has already lost him his apartment and job.
