iZombie, “Pilot” (Tuesday, March 17, 9/8c, The CW)

What if the walking dead just wanted a cuddle? That’s the basic premise of the comic book adaptation iZombie. Heroine Liv Morris (Rose McIver) is a bubbly, type-A med student with a puppy-faced, perfectly-named fiancé, Major Lilywhite (Robert Buckley)—until she dies and comes back to life craving brains. Reanimated Liv goes emo, dumps her man (so she won’t eat him), and gets a job at the morgue (for all the free food). Her kind boss (Rahul Kohli) guesses her secret and together they discover that when Liv dines on someone’s cerebral cortex, she also absorbs his or her memories, making her very useful in murder investigations. That’s where the series’ detective bit comes in. But what Liv really yearns for is to get Major (and her humanity) back. So next time you see a zombie, maybe give them a big hug?
